Melina Daphne Papageorgiou is a visual artist. The portfolio includes series such as Burkini Conversations / Plastic Cup, Paper Cup, I Used to Look at the Sky, Sorry, I Fucked This Up, Artificial Animals, and Universal Landscapes.
The Plastic Cup, Paper Cup/ Burkini series has been showcased in solo exhibitions at HAK Art Gallery in Berlin and The Front / PhotoNOLA 2018 in New Orleans. Have been promoted in South Korea at The Scrap, Culture Station Seoul. Her works have received international acclaim, appearing in articles and publications across Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Greece, the UK, the USA, and Brazil, (Zeit Magazine, The Huffington Post, Capricious Blog N.Y., Konbini Art, Under Pressure, Juliet Art, and Intersection) and more.
Papageorgiou’s work has been acknowledged in various Photo Book Festival's, including the Photo Dummy Kassel Award in 2017 and 2022, Photo London, La Fabrica and Photo España, Athens Photo Festival. The collaborative project Universal Landscapes was nominated for the Photography Preis of Haus Am Kleistpark in 2018. The project focus on the research and artistic practice in the Tempelhof - Schöneberg district of Berlin.
The latest work, I Used to Look at the Sky participated at Triennale der Photographie Hamburg 2022 at Mundahalle and was in a solo show at World in Room in Berlin. And part of the publication "Re-imagine Your City," published by Shift Books in 2023. Raised in Athens, Greece, Papageorgiou currently lives and works in Berlin.
